As part of the staff development programme of the school, the school has organised with the help of the Masters’ Common Room a study tour to The Penang War Museum at Bukit Batu Maung.

The War Museum is converted from a British military defence fortress built in 1930’s. The fortress was built by British Royal Engineers, Prisioners of War and local labourers. They dug into the hill to create a fort with underground military tunnels, intelligence and logistic centre, halls, offices, ventilation shafts, canon firing bays, anti aircraft firing bays, sleeping bunkers, cook houses, lock-up, observation towers, water tanks, trences route , generator room and etc.

At one time, the fortress could house 1500 soldiers. The British abandoned it when the Japanese came and it was then used by the Japanese as an interrogation centre. Photographs of the trial of the war criminal, Yamashita known as tiger of Malaya, are shown in one of the bunkers. He was eventually executed.
